WGXC Morning Show: Hugh Johnson, Sandra Goldmeer, Liz Moran (Audio)
Hugh Johnson is a retired meteorologist, formerly with the National Weather Service in Albany. He spoke with WOOC's Andrea Cunliffe and Mark Dunlea about the thermometer that the National Weather Service continues to use at the Albany Airport which is about 2.5 degrees too low. And September is National Suicide Prevention Month. September 5-11 is the National Suicide Prevention Week. AFSP Capital Region Director Sandra Goldmeer speaks about the multiple events that the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is offering this month plus other programs through out the year. Goldmeer emphasizes that we must normalize the conversations about our mental health and that Together, we can help Stop Suicide. And cryptocurrencies are have a huge climate impact due to the massive use of computers - and electricity - to perform the block chain verification for some crypto coins. Liz Moran of NYPIRG discusses with WOOC's Mark Dunlea about the effort to impose a moratorium on such efforts in New York.

Some reports come from our partner station, WOOC-LP in Troy, out of The Sanctuary for Independent Media. Tom Roe also cuts up local and national news with songs and sounds for the show. At 9 a.m. "The WGXC Daily," with local headlines, weather, and previews of community events, airs. At 10 a.m., national headlines from Public News Service are on WGXC. Sometimes national, state, or local press conferences, meetings, or events are broadcast live here.
