The Daily Freeman is reporting a Powerball lottery ticket worth $1 million was sold last week at the Smoker’s Choice store in Catskill, according to the state lottery division. The ticket matched all five of the game’s main numbers, but not the Powerball number. Had the local player also matched the Powerball, they would have hit the $62 million jackpot. The ticket was sold at the store, located at 18 Boulevard Avenue, for the January 17 drawing, and was the only one in the nation to match the five main numbers. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The odds of winning the million-dollar second prize are 1 in 11.7 million. The holder of a winning lottery ticket in New York can claim their prize up to one year from the date of the drawing. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
