Rachel Silberstein reports in the Times Union that the University at Albany showed off its new competitive video gaming arena Nov. 15. The arena includes high-performance computers, keyboards, game controllers and headsets for esports games in the Eastern College Athletic Conference. “Since I was young, I had a dream of playing video games professionally,” said Novoa Lucas, a senior in the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity, who was born in Jiquilpan, Michoacán in Mexico. "It’s something I would have never imagined was possible 10 years ago. But, this is a growing sport and I’m excited to be part of it.” The Great Danes are fielding teams in every ECAC esports game played. Read more about this story in the Times Union.
