Car, Cairo-Durham bus collide, no injuries reported
Bill Williams is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media a portion of Route 32 in Cairo was closed the afternoon of January 29, following a collision between a Cairo-Durham Central School District school bus and a car. Two students were on the bus at the time of the accident. Neither was injured, said Cairo-Durham Superintendent Michael Wetherbee. It is unclear if any occupants of the car were injured. Shortly before 2 p.m., Greene County 911 sent Cairo Fire Department, Cairo Ambulance and Greene County Paramedics to 7413 Route 32. The bus received damage to a passenger door. The air bags in the vehicle deployed in the crash. The car sustained front-end damage from the impact; and it was eventually towed from the scene. Traffic on Route 32 was limited to one lane of alternating traffic and then completely closed when the vehicles were being removed. Route 32 was reopened to traffic and all companies were back in service at 2:53 p.m. State police investigated the accident with the assistance of the town of Cairo police.
