The state Public Service Commission announced July 21 several public hearings around the area to consider a new area code for the 518 area. On Thu., July 28 the PSC holds a 6 p.m. information session, with a public hearing at 7 p.m. in the Ichabod Crane High School auditorium at 2910 Route 9. There are similar sessions July 26 in Glens Falls, in the afternoon of July 28 in Latham, Aug. 3 in Plattsburgh, and Aug. 4 in Lake Placid.
