The Mid-Hudson News Network reports that on Oct. 23 state labor statistics showed lower unemployment numbers in the Hudson Valley. Greene County's rate was down by 1.1 percent from 4.8 percent to 3.7 percent, comparing September 2017 to September 2018. Columbia County retained the lowest joblessness figures in the area at 2.8 percent, down 0.8 percent from this time last year. Ulster, Dutchess, and Putnam counties all saw 1.0 percent declines in joblessness. Overall throughout the state, the unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in September.
