State's first driverless car test coming to Albany

Matthew Hamilton is reporting at Capitol Confidential state officials announced Wed., May 31, Audi has been approved to perform the first driverless car test in New York. The test will take place on June 13 near the state Capitol in Albany. Audi was the first company to apply for the rights to demonstrate autonomous vehicle technology under the one-year program approved in April as part of the state budget. Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office said the vehicle to be tested is capable of hands-free driving but allows a person to take over if necessary. Troopers with the state police will monitor the test.
