Legislation proposed to require school buses to have over-the-shoulder belts

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting state Sen. David Carlucci has introduced legislation that would require all school buses in New York to have over-the-shoulder seat belts. The measure would also require that students wear them at all times while on a bus. “The [National Transportation Safety Board] is telling us seat belts save lives and lessen injuries,” Carlucci said. “New York needs to take this guidance seriously, and lawmakers must make this legislation a top propriety.” California is the only state in the country that requires over-the-shoulder belts on school buses.
