Public to question officials at TCI meeting

On Mon., Aug. 13 on the "WGXC Afternoon Show," Assemblymember Didi Barrett, Ghent activist Patti Matheney, and filmmaker David McDonald talked about the public information meeting Thu., Aug., 16 about the second TCI fire, at the firehouse in West Ghent. Representatives from eight county, state and federal offices will be in attendance at the public information meeting on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m., at the West Ghent Volunteer Fire Department Station on Route 9H. Brian Hemlock, co-owner of TCI Inc., will also attend with officials from the Environmental Protection Agency; New York State Department of Health; New York State Department of Environmental Conservation; New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets; New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services; Columbia County Office of Emergency Management; and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Barrett, who represents the 103rd District including parts of Columbia and Dutchess counties, spoke on WGXC about the Aug. 1 fire that burned almost an entire day, belching smoke that has concerned some local residents.
