The For the Many and Community Voices Heard activist groups occupied Assemblymember Didi Barrett’s Albany office on March 22, because of her refusal to support Good Cause Eviction. Police turned up to the office, but the activists did not report any arrests. The Good Cause Eviction legislation would make it illegal for landlords to evict tenants unless they violated the lease agreement. “Barrett has refused to personally meet with tenants about the housing crisis in the Hudson Valley—especially in the City of Hudson,” said For the Many Political Director Brahvan Ranga. “Her constituents brought her eviction notices to let her know if she continues to evict us from our homes, then we’re going to evict her from office.”
