New board committee approves raises, new hires

Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star the Columbia County Board of Supervisors .1 [point one] committee met for the first time Thurs., June 27, and approved raises for county employees, in addition to a host of new hires. Raises were approved for positions in the treasurers office, the Management Information Systems department and the Mental Health Center. The committee also approved the hiring of a nurse for the Pine Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and a Department of Social Services social welfare examiner. The new committee replaces the board’s Budget and Salary Committee, and supervises the county's hiring practices. The .1 [point one] term refers to the county's budget designation for personnel.
