Chelsea Diana reports in the Albany Business Review that the Bank of Greene County is expanding to Albany. The bank is opening a new office on Wolf Road near the corner of Sand Creek Road this week. "We did a lot of [Paycheck Protection Program] loans and a lot in Albany, so it got us off to good start relationshipwise," said Donald Gibson, CEO of the Catskill-based bank. "We wanted to be in the Albany market because we do a lot of business in Albany." The bank now has a branch in Ravena in southern Albany County, but now is in the state capital. The bank is trying to get to $2 billion in deposits by the end of 2021. Gibson says they plan to further expand into Albany County and Ulster County. While they expand, Gibson is still talking local. "Kinderhook Bank got bought out by Community Bank and for us it was beneficial. We found out they were going to be taken over and renovated a restaurant in Kinderhook into a branch," Gibson said. "In Columbia County, a lot of people wanted to bank local. A lot of our growth got driven by that takeover." The Bank of Greene County currently has 17 offices in Greene, Albany, Columbia, and Ulster counties. Read more about this story in the Albany Business Review.
