Almost 50K enroll in health plans via NY site

Claire Hughes is reporting at Capitol Confidential almost 50,000 New Yorkers have enrolled in health plans through NY State of Health, the state-run online insurance market. The number, reported by the state Health Department Tues., Nov. 12, represents those who have not only completed the online application process and been deemed eligible to enroll, but actually chosen a health plan, whether through Medicaid or a commercial insurance carrier. Altogether, almost 200,000 New Yorkers have applied online and shopped for coverage on the site, which was launched Oct. 1 to meet the requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act.
