John Mason reports in the Register Star the site plan application for the new Columbia-Greene Partnership Academy was approved Wed., Aug. 14, by the Hudson Planning Commission. The alternative learning program, also known as the Bridge, will be located in the former Register Star building at 364 Warren St. It will serve students in Columbia and Greene counties. As expected, the application was approved with four conditions: Students will be transported to and from the location by two buses, maximum; arrivals and departures must be supervised by staff, and the facility must be cleared by 3:30 p.m.; Academy staff may not park on Warren Street; and, the commission will revisit the application in two years to determine the success of the location. The building owner, the Galvan Foundation, will now apply for a building permit and expects to get the certificate of occupancy by Aug. 26, according to Executive Director Daniel Kent. The facility must then be approved by the New York State Education Department. School opens Sept. 4. Read the full story in the Register Star.
