Debby Mayer is reporting in The Columbia Paper on Tue., Dec. 13, the Germantown Fire District will hold its annual election. Richard Jennings II, an active firefighter, is the only candidate on the ballot. The incumbent commissioner, Denis Crawford, has completed a five-year term and will not run again. District secretary Kerrie Abela said last week that Crawford was "ready to move on, to hand the pencil on to someone else.” Jennings was the only person to acquire the needed 25 signatures and return the petition by the November 23 deadline, Abela said. The new commissioner's five-year term runs from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021. Voting takes place at the firehouse, located at 181 Main Street, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday.
