Catskill Town Board sets metal detector policy

Kemble reports in the Daily Freeman the Catskill Town Board has agreed to policy requiring a recently acquired metal detector be set up at the courtroom entrance when cases are being heard. The directive was approved during a meeting Wed., July 17. Town Supervisor Joseph Leggio said, “I think anytime court is in session they have to walk through it. ... It might be a slight inconvenience for somebody, but it’s better to err on the side of safety.” The metal detector was purchased for about $6,000 with a grant from the state Unified Court System.
