Richard Moody is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Catskill school district business administrator Joseph Jimick is scheduled to receive a 32 percent salary increase beginning July 1. Jimick succeeded former business administrator Stephen Miskell in 2017, at the annual salary of $91,000. Under the Catskill Central School District's proposed $41.8 million spending plan for the 2018-19 school year, Jimick's compensation will jump to $120,000 a year. Despite Jimick's dramatic salary increase, Superintendent Ronel Cook said the district will actually save money. “The last administrator we had, had no experience; he was a math teacher before coming to us,” Cook said. He equired considerable support from the district due to thatlack of experience, Cook said, and the district was forced to contract jobs out to the local Board of Cooperative Educational Services, or BOCES, as a result. “I brought in someone who has business administration experience,” Cook said. “So, we are spending less overall in the business department.” Jimick earned his school business leader certification at SUNY New Paltz, and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Marist College. Jimick said he is working with Catskill school officials to help the district save money in key areas. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
