David Lombardo reports in Capitol Confidential that New Lebanon Town Clerk Tistrya Houghtling led attorney Don Boyajian by a large margin in fundraising since July in the primary election to take on Republican Assemblyman Jake Ashby in the 107th State Assembly District. The district includes Washington, Rensselaer, and Columbia counties. Ashby narrowly defeated Cindy Doran in an April 24 special election to replace Republican Steve McLaughlin. Now the two Democrats square off Sept. 13 to take on Ashby in November. Boyajian may not have been trying hard to raise money recently, as he campaign has more money on hand, $101,425, then Houghtling's $18,396. In the past month, Boyajian spent $49,913, mostly on consulting costs. Houghtling spent $11,120, including $2,000 to a Troy consultant and $2,068 for lawn signs.
