Holiday spirit gets started on local streets

HudsonValley360.com reports about how the holiday season got under way this weekend locally. The newspaper reports that 20,000 people turned out for Hudson's Winter Walk Dec. 1, with local stores and restaurants getting festive for hours before fireworks went off overhead. Copake also held a Winter Walk, the sixth year they've held the similar event. In Catskill, there was a ‘Run for a Claus’ 5K events on local streets put on by the Catskill Teachers Association. “We try to raise money for the local food pantries in town,” event organizer and high school math teacher James Maccaline said. “Matthew 25, Community Action of Greene County and God’s Storehouse are the three recipients of all the proceeds.” And Coxsackie held its 23rd annual Christmas by the River this weekend.
