Trump orders won't change prospects for Constitution Pipeline

Robin K. Cooper reports in The Albany Business Journal President Donald Trump revived one pipeline project and sped up another this week, which has some prople wondering if the Constitution Pipeline proposal could get approval. Last year, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation denied a water permit for the proposed 124-mile natural gas pipeline that would lie largely along the I-88 corridor from Schoharie County to Pennsylvania. Chris Stockton, a spokesman for the Constitution Pipeline, found the federal policy shift is encouraging, but it would not affect the court case. Oral arguments were heard in November and Stockton predicted a ruling in the case in late spring or early summer. "They'll determine whether [the state's decision] was politically motivated or based on science," Stockton said. Robin K. Cooper reports in The Albany Business Journal.
