C-GCC appoints new VP and Dean of Academic Affairs

Bill Williams is reporting for WCTW-FM, "The Cat," Columbia-Greene Community College has announced the appointment of George Timmons, of Schenectady, to serve as the school's Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs. Before his appointment, Timmons was employed by Excelsior College in Albany, where he served as Dean of the School of Liberal Arts; previously he was Excelsior's Founding Dean of Online and Learning Services, and the Associate Provost of the Center for Online Education. As a volunteer, Timmons served on the boards of the Capital District YMCA and as a mentor with the Sponsor-A-Scholar program of Albany. He is also an active member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Timmons is a graduate of Norfolk State University, holds a graduate degree from Old Dominion University and received his Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University.
