News10 in Albany reports that Kinderhook's leaders and history buffs gathered at the gravesite of former U.S. president Martin Van Buren.on what would have been his 241st birthday on Dec. 5. Van Buren, the eighth president of the United States, was born in Kinderhook in the late 1700s and returned to the town after he was president. Van Buren was president from 1837-1841, after serving previously as Andrew Jackson's vice president. He was also New York's Attorney General, Senator, and Governor.
