Hudson proposes tweaking ward boundaries
Noah Eckstein reports for Columbia-Greene Media that on May 31 Hudson's Common Council holds a special meeting to vote on changing the city’s ward boundaries. In February the Legal Committee voted unanimously to recommend the “least change” option for ward reapportionment in the annual update of the ward boundaries. Under the proposal, 75 residents from the 1st Ward move to the 3rd Ward and 40 residents from the 3rd Ward switch to the 4th Ward. If voters approve in a November referendum, the changes would go into effect on Jan. 1, 2023. “The point is that some people are going to wake up and find out they are in a new ward,” Common Council President Thomas DePietro said. “I don’t know if that is a big deal or not.” Read more about this story at HudsonValley360.com.
