Assembly gives Belleayre $3.12M for repairs, upgrades
MidHudson News is reporting the New York State Assembly budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year includes $3.12 million for Belleayre Ski Resort in Ulster County. Two million of the allocation would be applied toward upgrades to snowmaking equipment, $1 million for facility improvements and $125,000 for expanded summer programming. “Belleayre is a valuable gateway to the Catskills, offering residents and visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy winter sports,” said Assemblymember Kevin Cahill. “With these funds Belleayre can also expand [its] off-season programming for hiking, biking, and gondola operations.” The Kingston Democrat said combined with the Catskill Visitor Center, local amenities and some of the highest peaks in the region, the Belleayre/Shandaken region continues to be the center of Catskills recreation.
