Mental Health Assn. housing project put on hold

Katie Kocijanski is reporting in the Register Star the Greenport Planning Board Tues., Sept. 23, put the brakes on the proposed Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Greenport Gardens development. The 66-unit building would be located on Green Acres Road near Joslen Boulevard. The board requested three letters of approval and comments on the project from the town’s highway superintendent, fire chief and water and wastewater superintendent before the project could be moved forward. Earlier this month Greenport Supervisor John Porreca and the Town Board expressed their disapproval of the development. Several community members have also expressed their opposition to the project during two public information sessions. Read the full story in the Register Star.
