WKNY-AM soon to be available on FM
Ariél Zangla is reporting for the Daily Freeman programming from Kingston's WKNY-AM will soon be broadcast on an FM frequency, as well. Jimmy Buff, executive director of Radio Kingston Corp., which owns WKNY 1490-AM, said the company learned April 23 that its construction permit for an FM translator had been approved by the Federal Communications Commission. This will allow the station to simultaneously broadcast at 107.9-FM by midsummer. “Everything that we do on the AM will be on the FM signal,” Buff said. “We’re wildly excited.” Buff said Radio Kingston recognizes the history of WKNY as an AM station but knows the FM availability will provide another way for people to listen. Radio Kingston bought WKNY from Townsquare Media for $500,000 in October 2017. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
