The following Memorial Day parades and ceremonies are taking place on May 31, according to Andrea Macko, reporting for Porcupine Soup: Cairo's Memorial Day Parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Main Street near Acra Building Supply. Marchers will proceed down Main Street to Van Buren Drive. The parade ends in Angelo Canna Town Park at the Veterans Memorial where American Legion Mohican Post 983 will hold a ceremony. Organized by American Legion Post 291, Greenville’s Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10:15 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Church parking lot. The parade will proceed east on State Route 81 to the traffic light, then north on Route 32 to Scott M. Ellis Elementary School. A ceremony will follow at the gazebo in Veterans Park. A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the old Durham Elementary School at 11 a.m. A wreath, donated by the Durham Task Force will be presented and displayed in front of the monument. The Coxsackie Memorial Day Parade steps off at 1 p.m. from Apple Blossom Lane and marches down Mansion Street to Route 385. A ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. at the Village Building. In Athens, TGM American Legion Post 187 will host the Memorial Day parade. Lineup will start at 9 a.m. on 2nd Street. Light refreshments will be served at the post afterwards. Memorial Day in Prattsville will be recognized with the traditional ceremony by the American Legion Virgil E. Deyo Post 1327 on the Prattsville Town Green at 11:30 a.m. A Memorial Day service will be held at the Community Hall in West Kill at 9 a.m., after which participants will march to the cemetery between the Baptist and Methodist churches, then to the memorial monument by Route 42 and Spruceton Road. The Sullivan-Teator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Catskill will hold a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Main Street post. The ceremony will take place in the parking lot. The Catskill American Legion Post 110 will hold a Memorial Day Service at 11 a.m. on the steps of the Catskill Courthouse. The guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Cornell A. Morris.
