Astorino out in governor's race

Matthew Hamilton reports in Capitol Confidential that Westchester County Republican Rob Astorino won't challenge Democrat Andrew Cuomo for governor next year, after losing the Westchester County Executive election Nov. 7. “Mr. Astorino’s focus right now is to ensure a smooth transition to the next administration,” Astorino spokeswoman Jessica Proud said Nov. 9. Astorino was one of five Republicans considering gubernatorial runs in 2018. Hamilton says businessman and former state comptroller candidate Harry Wilson, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, state Sen.
