PSC asked to add 'people's commissioner'

Rick Karlin reports in Capitol Confidential that activists are pushing for Gov. Andrw Cuomo to add what they term a ”People’s Commissioner’ to the state's Public Service Commission. The Energy Democracy Alliance wants at least one commissioner who represents people, rather than industries. “I can’t see a ‘suit’ representing me,” added Lucy Velez, of PUSH Buffalo. She hopes that a PSC commissioner would know what it was like to wait in a HEAP, or home heating assistance, office for low-income aid in paying his or her power bills.
