Alvin Curran
Alvin Curran is a composer, improviser, sound and radio artist, teacher, and writer. Curran began playing music at a young age, eventually graduating from Yale where he studied under Elliott Carter and Mel Powell. He is a founding member of Musica Elettronica Viva, and has collaborated internationally with artists ranging from John Cage to the Kronos Quartet to Oren Ambarchi. From 1991 to 2006, he was the Milhaud Professor of Composition at Mills College and he now teaches privately from his home in Rome, as well as teaching, lecturing, and residencies internationally at institutions ranging from Harvard to the Hague to the Experimental Music Studio.
