Cuomo plan would expand medical marijuana program too

Jan 31, 2019 12:23 am
David Robinson reports in the Poughkeepsie Journal that Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to legalize recreational pot also includes many changes to the current medical marijuana program. The new proposal would open up now-strict patient eligibility rules, and also allow homegrown cannabis for medical use. Medical marijuana patients would be allowed a permit to grow four cannabis plants under Cuomo's proposal. The governor's recreational marijuana legalization proposal does not allow for home growing, only corporate sales. Medical marijuana households would be limited to eight plants under the proposal. And instead of a short list of health conditions deciding who gets medical marijuana in New York, medical professionals could use their own judgment under Cuomo's plan.
