Grattan steps down in Kinderhook

Dec 27, 2019 12:46 am
Emilia Teasdale reports in the Columbia Paper that Kinderhook Town Supervisor Pat Grattan dropped the gavel for the final time after his 120th Town Board meeting on Dec. 16. Grattan, a Republican, has also served as mayor of the Village of Valatie, and chairperson of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors. He was first elected in 2009. Grattan's biggest accomplishment was the 2013 move of Kinderhook offices into an Ichabod Crane Central School District elementary school building that the town and village bought for $1. Now 20 community groups now use the building for events with the building’s former school cafeteria turned into a courtroom for the town. And there's also an electric car charger outside the building. Grattan ended his last meeting saying this was not a goodbye but, “I want to say thanks instead.” Read more about this story in the Columbia Paper.
