Collins resigns from Congress

Nikki Schwab and Bob Fredericks report in the New York Post that Republican New York Congressperson Chris Collins resigned Sept. 30. The Buffalo-area lawmaker resigned the day before he was expected to plead guilty in Manhattan federal court to insider trading charges. Gov. Andrew Cuomo can either call a special election or leave the seat vacant until the next general election in November 2020. If he calls a special election, he could time in with village elections next March, or with the presidential primary election in April. Read more about this story in the New York Post.
