May 23, 2019 12:46 am
Two school board elections locally -- in Catskill and Hudson -- did not have enough candidates for board seats, and came down to write-in candidates. Both school districts waited a day to announce winners, though neither released full results of the elections. In Catskill Allan Couser, the only candidate on the ballot, got the most votes, with 320. He starts immediately, and his term lasts until June 30, 2022. Patricia Dushane (309 votes), and Andrew Varone (168) take office July 1 and continue through June 30, 2022. And Ryan Osswald (117 votes) will be on the board from now through June 30, 2020. In Hudson incumbent Willette Jones was the only candidate on the ballot, and was re-elected to a three-year term ending in 2022 with 427 votes. Write-in candidates Charles Parmentier (145 votes) and Justin Elliot (63) won three-year terms ending in 2022. Neither school disclosed the runners-up in the May 21 elections.
