Schermerhorn sworn in as Hudson fire chief

Arthur Cusano is reporting in the Register Star the Hudson Fire Department has a new chief. James “Buddy” Schermerhorn (SKEMMER-horn) was sworn into office by City Clerk Tracy Delaney at City Hall, Thurs., Jan. 1. Schermerhorn is a 46-year-old lifelong Hudson resident and a 1986 graduate of Hudson High School. He began his firefighting career in 1982 in the Hudson Explorer Post, a junior firefighter program. Schermerhorn became an active member of the department in 1986 and advanced through the ranks. He said Hudson’s department is progressive and up to date on the latest firefighting techniques and technology, and he intends to keep the department moving forward.
