Planners discuss Hudson issues

Richard Moody for Columbia-Greene Media reports that widening the sidewalks along Front Street, signage for tourists coming off Amtrak, a grass tunnel to Riverfront Park, a bike-sharing system, repurposing the Furgary Shacks, and bringing back Hudson's shuttle bus were some of the ideas for the city floated at the Young Planners Summit Oct. 12-15. Ramboll, an international company that aids cities with urban planning, held the summit. “New York City people come up, there is displacement and gentrification, affordability to live is an issue,” said Herbert Dreiseitl, executive director of landscape, urban design, resilience and climate adaptation for Ramboll. “We can try to make it better.” Most of the talk focused on the riverfront area, and the the city's plans for a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant loomed over the proceedings.
