Cuomo announces vape warning

Sep 11, 2019 12:19 am
The Times Herald-Record reports that Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Sept. 9 that the state will require health warning signs in shops that sell vaping devices. The announcement comes after hundreds of cases of lung illnesses believed to be related to the vaping are being reported. “This is a frightening public health phenomenon,” Cuomo said. “Common sense says if you don’t know what you are smoking, don’t smoke it.” U.S. health officials say there have been 450 possible illness cases recently in 33 states, including as many as five deaths. In New York there have been 41 cases of severe pulmonary illness in patients ages 15 to 46 who said they were using a cannabis-containing vape device before they felt sick. Cuomo's store signs will read: "Vaping can expose you to toxic chemicals and kill you." Read more about this story in the Times Herald-Record.
