Columba County may take golf course by eminent domain

Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star the Columbia County Board of Supervisors is considering eminent domain proceedings against Meadowgreens Golf Course in Ghent. County officials wish to acquire more than 16 acres of property plus a 90-acre navigation easement for a runway protection zone at the Columbia County Airport. The property ownership group’s principal owner Carmen Nero, said recently the county’s offer was too low. The members of the Economic Development Committee of the Board of Supervisors was advised, Mon., Apr. 22, eminent domain would be the next step. The committee did not act on the matter.
