Patricia R. Doxsey in the Daily Freeman reports that about 300 mourners attended the funeral Nov. 29 of former U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Saugerties. Hinchey, 79, died Nov. 22 after serving in the state Assembly from 1975 to 1992 and the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 until 2012. The day before, hundreds of local residents and others attended a wake for Hinchey at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home in Saugerties. U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, Ulster County Executive Michael Hein, county Comptroller Elliott Auerbach, Kingston Mayor Steve Noble, and Ulster County Legislators Manna Jo Greene, Peter Loughran and Hector Rodriguez were among those attending the wake.
