Drones will be used to monitor traffic at state fair

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced Mon., Aug. 22, that state-owned drones will be used for the first time to monitor traffic conditions at the 2017 Great New York State Fair. The technology will help the New York State Police and the State Department of Transportation better monitor traffic and parking lot capacity over the weekends during the fair. The drone technology is a joint effort between the DOT, the State Department of Environmental Conservation, and New York State Police. The drones operate within a range of approximately one mile.
