Columbia County COVID-19 numbers larger then last year's levels

Natasha Vaughn-Holdridge reports for Columbia-Greene Media that on Dec. 9 Columbia County reported another COVID-19 death. Columbia County Department of Health Director Jack Mabb said the man was unvaccinated and had comorbidities. There were five COVID deaths in Columbia County in September, two in October and November, and three so far in the first third of December. “We are also up to 22 in the hospital with 12 being at CMH,” Mabb said. “They have one person there in the ICU.” The coronavirus statistics locally are very similar to a year ago, when no vaccines were available, but more people wore masks. This week Columbia County announced 35 new positive COVID cases Thursday, and 47 new cases Monday, 59 Tuesday, and 47 Wednesday. Last year during the same week Columbia County reported five cases that Monday, 18 Tuesday, 18 Wednesday, and 21 that Thursday.
