The Albany Times Union reports that on Aug. 8 the Public Service Commission approved Berkshire Cable Corp. for cable and internet franchise agreements in Ancram and Austerlitz. “Approving these franchise agreements promotes consumer choice and provides new service offerings in the respective communities while enhancing competition in the telecommunication marketplace,” said Public Service Commission Chairperson John Rhodes. Berkshire Cable Corp. will provide cable television and internet, with speeds from 25 megabits per second up to 1 gigabit per second, to homes in the two Columbia County towns. They'll compete with Charter Communications there. Read more about this story in the Albany Times Union.
