Cuomo won't say what New York is doing about sexual misconduct

Dec 14, 2017 2:33 pm

Daniel Arkin reports for NBC News that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Dec. 13 that a female reporter did "a disservice to women" by asking what, specifically, Cuomo's administration was doing about sexual misconduct in state government. Instead, he asked public radio correspondent Karen DeWitt what the news business was doing about sexual misconduct. New York Now posted an audio clip of the exchange between Cuomo and DeWitt.

"Look, you have it going on in journalism," Cuomo told DeWitt. "What are you going to do differently?... We will have policies in state government, obviously, that affect state government, but I think you miss the point.... When you say it's state government, you do a disservice to women, with all due respect, even though you're a woman." Then Dewitt asked Cuomo to "name just one" potential change to New York state policy, and the governor replied: "No."
