Change coming to Valatie intersection

Sep 27, 2019 12:45 am
Emilia Teasdale reports for the Columbia Paper that the intersection of Route 9 and Main Street in Valatie is in for a major change soon. Mayor Diane Argyle said that next year the state plans to shift cars coming north on Route 9 and make them go to the intersection of Route 9 and Main Street with a right turn lane for cars turning onto Main Street. The construction of the Albany-Hudson Electric Trail along a National Grid right-of-way through the village is the driver for the change. The state wants to make the Main Street crosswalk safer for trail hikers. Mayor Argyle predicts construction will take place next year. Work on the trail won't be completed until the fall of 2020.
