WRGB-TV is reporting Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo July 16, signed a bill into law, raising the age to purchase tobacco products in New York to 21. The bill will take effect in 120 days. "By raising the smoking age from 18 to 21, we can stop cigarettes and e-cigarettes from getting into the hands of young people in the first place and prevent an entire generation of New Yorkers from forming costly and potentially deadly addictions." According to the governor's office, approximately 28,000 adult New Yorkers die each year as a result of smoking. Read the full story at CBS6Albany [dot] com.
