Equal pay bill goes to Cuomo

The Albany Business Review reports that the New York state Assembly passed a bill ensuring equal-pay for women April 27, sending it to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is expected to sign into law. The bill already passed the state Senate in January, and would also increases damages for violations by 300 percent, and does not let employers keep their compensation secret. "All women deserve to receive a paycheck based on their position and job performance rather than their gender," Cuomo said.
