William J. Kemble is reporting in the Daily Freeman the Catskill Town Board approved revisions to senior citizen property tax exemption deadlines that will add about two months to the filing date for hardship conditions. The changes were adopted Tues., Apr. 15, following a public hearing. Under the law, senior citizens will have until Grievance Day to provide proof they had a medical reason for missing the March 1 deadline for filing for an exemption, or were taking care of a family member and could not file. The exemptions applications filed in March would be for tax bills issued after July 1 by the town, village, school district, or county. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
