Cairo hires grant writer

Daniel Zuckerman is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Cairo Town Board Jan. 21, unanimously approved the hiring of River Street Planning & Development as the town's grant writer. The Troy-based company was chosen because of its success with other Greene County municipalities, such as Hunter, Prattsville and Tannersville. The board allocated $12,000 to cover the cost of a grant writer for one year. River Street's founder and Principal Margaret Irwin said that sum would be sufficient compensation for her team to secure funding for projects such as the development of Angelo Canna Town Park and the revitalization of Main Street. The town has many projects in the development stage or in progress, including the relocation of the ambulance building for which the services of a grant writer will be crucial, town Supervisor Dan Benoit said. “There’s a whole host of different things and ideas that are out there that need funding that a grant writer could help us focus,” Benoit said. “If we want grants, we’re going to need some professional help.” Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
