Richard Moody reports for Columbia-Greene Media that the Fitting Creek Bridge on Route 25 in Stockport is a month behind schedule, according to Columbia County Engineering Director Dean Knox. A $900,000 construction project there began June 11. “Because of all the rain we had, the project is behind schedule,” Knox said. “Every day we have to clear the water out so we can continue to work. We had planned to have the project done in early October, but now we are looking at early November.” The county is paying five percent of the project, the state pays 15 percent, and the federal government fund 80 percent of the cost. Much more work needs to be done. Earlier this year the county applied for grants to work on the Gallatinville Bridge on Mill Hill Road, in Gallatin; the Dales Bridge on Dales Bridge Road in Livingston and Germantown; and Bash Bish Bridge on Valley View Road in Copake. The county also applied for funding to replace culverts on Route 40 in Clermont, Route 76 in Gallatin, and Route 11 in Austerlitz. Read the full story at Hudson Valley 360.com.
