Produced by Mariel Fiori and Antonio Flores-Lobos.
Journalists Mariel Fiori and Antonio Flores-Lobos interview Elvira Arellano, a Chicago-based immigrant rights activist from Mexico and one of the world’s leading immigrant rights activists. In 2006, Elvira took sanctuary in a church in Chicago to prevent the separation of her family. She then became the global symbol of the US immigrant rights movement and the millions of people who mobilized to protest for immigration reform that year. Elvira came to Bard College to speak on her own experience as an immigrant, the current immigrant rights struggle, and the humanitarian crisis involving Central American immigrants and unaccompanied immigrant children, and gave ¿Qué cocinaré hoy? a long interview.
